Little Indie Art Club

Image
This year my fellow art tutor and friend  Jeannie Brunskill  started a new after school art club at  The Reef , Colehill and she kindly asked me to help her out with running the classes. Little Indie  is a not-for-profit organisation and runs on a Monday afternoon from 3:30 - 5pm for children 5 - 10 years of age. Little Indie at The Reef, Colehill We've now broken up for half term, but I really wanted to share some of the incredible projects that we've been working on this year because they're so creative and brilliant! So in no particular order, here they are: Photo by Jeannie Brunskill It's what's inside that counts! Photo by Jeannie Brunskill This week the children finished off their 'Inside Out' houses, for which they designed, drew and coloured in a picture of their dream house! The picture of the outer house flips down to reveal the rooms inside and they had great fun dreaming up the interior spaces. The above is one particularly fabulous...

Volunteering at Walford Mill Crafts: Chapter 6

Christmas is now all set up at the Mill and looking fabulous! Here's a few pictures: Looking pretty splendid indeed! Most of the hard work and graft was down to Krishula, Christine and Mel, although I wrapped most of the presents under the tree, and helped with decorating the smaller christmas tree and shop displays that can be seen in the last two pictures! I haven't ever really been involved in creating retail displays to this standard before, so I'm learning a lot as I go along and the staff have been very encouraging and helpful, which is lovely. I've been working in the gallery shop a more the past couple of weeks and have come to terms with the till and general day to day happenings now. I think! This week I was helping  Debby  with jewellery creating again; using her beautiful hand painted papers to make unique pieces which will be finished with resin. Here are a few that I was working on this week: In the foreground and left you can se...

Smell The Glove

I did manage to finish my final piece for Unit 2 of my Mixed Media Art course: Since I had no idea what I was doing I think I am happy with it. Today I decided to have a selfish crafting day and made a couple of things for myself! WOAH NOW Pom Pommes Frites A new cushion cover featuring Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham and pom pom trim! The Dr. Seuss fabric was from Abakhan and the pom pom trim was from Fabric Land . I also made this swede punk rock Toilet Boys oven glove: Glove of Love This was my first ever attempt at making an oven glove so I'm quite pumped with the result. I decided to use the Toilet Boys denim (from The Fabric Fairy ) as I have a lot of it and I figured it would be hard-wearing. The heat proof wadding, lining and everything else came from Fa...
