Just over a year ago my great gal pal Gemma over at  Dark Matters  asked me to make her some bespoke bunting  for her gourmet brownie stall business which was just taking off. Well last week she mentioned that the business is doing so well that she can now make what she calls a 'double pronged brownie attack' on the world [e.g. have two stalls open in two places at once] and therefore needed another string of bunting! Of course I was happy to oblige and I think it even turned out nicer than the original bunting I made for her: Fronting Backting I used all the same heritage style fabrics for the 'front'; plaid, houndstooth and gingham, but changed the 'back' up with some different ones; a titchy polyester check-like woven fabric and a geometric patterned woven wool which I absolutely love (but sadly don't have enough of to make a garment)! A couple of weeks ago I mentioned my pal Gemma's brownie business and something about bunting. Well Gemma asked me to make her some special bunting for her market stall and here it is: It's 2 sided, and all made from scraps of heritage type fabrics; gingham, checks, plaid / tartan, French toile, houndstooth, tweed, etc., which I had been wanting to do for a while. For an extra special fancy finish I used a velvety ribbon binding, tres classy! Unfortunately I didn't realise until I delivered the bunting that Gemma has a slight mental allergy to velvet ... oops! Nonetheless she is pleased as Punch and happy as Judy. You can catch Dark Matters at Boscombe Market on Saturdays starting this weekend (25th May)! My sumptuous friend / 'real job' colleague Gemma runs a Brownie business called Dark Matters and had a stall at Rumble In The Jumble on Monday... observe the bunting! I made the bunting! It's my personal, private bunting but I lent it out because I'm such a special individual. Gemma makes theee most delicious gourmet brownies, I can recommend the salted caramel flavour! That's all. My mum wanted some bunting to decorate my parents' hallway so I offered to make her some. My dad is currently working on/off in Dubai so I thought it would be a neat-o idea to combine something for him with the bunting for my mum, so this is what I did: I used scraps of fabric I already had, plus some that I picked up from charity shops. Then I used white felt for the lettering. I made it double sided so that she can have it plainish if she wants to: How d'ya like them apples? Although I almost feel like it's too plain and boring so I might tell her she can add to it if she likes. Again I used scraps and for the apple shape I drew around a cookie cutter. This didn't turn out as one of my neatest projects but since it's a freebie / family thing and I've been kind of under the weather I don't think it'll matter too much. Tough anyway!

Ello Poppets! For those of you just joining us I attend a weekly craft club on Saturday mornings; so here's the latest projects I've been working on there: Flag Queen For the Jubilee we made Union Jack flags using applique and a stencilled cameo of some lady (if you want to read about my stencilling technique it's best described here ). I left my edges a bit rough and ready because that's my style. Then I wasn't entirely sure what to do with it next, so I gave it to my mum. Aww. Hippo to be triangle Nextily we worked on some bunting - we are lucky enough to be partially fuelled by donations from local people who no longer have a use for their old supplies so three of the fabrics I used were vintage ones picked out from our hoards! I used orange binding tape because I liked how it picked out the oranges of the fabrics and contrasted with the purples and blues. Yeah! Hey sportsfans, This weekend I have been working on thingys for our stall at Rumble In The Jumble. First I made bunting: Which I was particularly proud of! I used scraps of various fabrics, bias tape and felt lettering. I more or less just followed this tutorial I found on Folksy. Secondly, a ladyburg coaster / hanging thingy: Lady Chris De Burg (This was mostly my sister's handiwork and I finished it off with the fancyness around the edge) Thirdly a tattooed handbag: Don't tie me down If you have eagle eyes, or just really good human eyes, you might be able to see that the strap is a neck tie! This is a bag that says 'don't mess with me', but also has pretty birds and flowers for when you are visiting your mum. Fourthly, a bunch of knitted/crocheted badges: Badgers Fifthly, my latest invention; BubbleBombs!
