A Quivering Goddess

Allo Guvner! I haven't forgotten about my little blog! I've just been very very busy hunting wabbits aaaaand catching up on school work / applying for uni. Today I finished one of my final pieces so I thought I'd share: Oh, Diana! It's not perfect but as the delicious Helena Bonham Carter once said: 'Perfection is overrated / Imperfection is underrated' She speaks the truth. I am sure that I have much more to tell, but it escapes me at the moment so here is a picture of our Bert relaxing at Bournemouth beach. Camembert Also, the lovely tattooed sailor bag sold just before christmas! This guy: This guy right here Never to be repeated again!

Grandma Style!

Hello there my voyeuristic chums! You are wondering why I have been so absent aren't you? Well I'm going to tell you - I'm applying to do a BA in Textile Design next year, along with all the other courses I'm studying (art x2, fashion and sign language), so I've been mentally and physically getting all prepared! But today I am bringing you something old which is new to you. In May/June I whipped up this little beauty to wear to my Grandma's 80th birthday and haven't shared the pictures yet so here you are! Aww, that's me now! I used Burda Style pattern 7494 and the fabric was from Fabric Land . Nice, huh?! I like how it turned out although I only wear it when I'm in a wallpapery mood. I haven't yet finished the lining but that's OK because I wear a slip underneath for discretion. I got a lot of good feedback from ma familia so I felt pretty swish. That's about it, gotta run back to my application!

Three Pears Of What?

Image
Well last time (if you remember) I promised that when I finished some half way decent sketches on my City & Guilds course I would post pictures, so here we go: Three Pairs I did this one in charcoal, I was pretty happy with the results. One lady in my class commented that it reminded her of the phrase 'two's company, three's a crowd'; except she phrased it more like 'two talk, the third will walk', which (being a notorious loner) I rather liked. The shadow of the stalk (bottom left) is my favourite part. Here I painted my Peace Lily , this time using Indian Ink, which I'd never used before. I liked that I got to start with a clean slate using the ink and I had a lot of fun making this painting! It's not the most technically correct piece in the world with regards to shading and what have you but I like it because the composition works really well. I am kind of pumped to see that I am actually improving somewhat! Additonal: free Halloween ...

Treesy To Please

Image
If I've been a quiet little mouse lately (more than usual) it's because I've started 4 new part-time adult learning courses and don't have much time to craft (or blog). This [obviously] makes me very sad indeed, but in the long run it'll all contribute towards my crafting skills. The courses I'm doing are: City & Guilds in Drawing Skills: Portfolio Level 1 City & Guilds Creative Techniques in Mixed Media Level 2 Fashion for Beginners Ascentis Entry Level 3 British Sign Language Signature Level 1 As you can imagine, between homework and working part-time, not to mention eating, sleeping and breathing in and out I am quite busy! So I thought what I would do to keep the blog going was share some of the work I'll be doing in class. Whether this will be interesting and exciting to anyone but myself I have no idea but I guess that's what blogging is all about, hey. Our first homework for Fashion was to create a mood board based on a current fas...

Shabby, Shabby... Shabby Chicy Cushions

Image
Did you stay tuned in to find out what I'm doing with my textile samples?! Well last week I managed to rustle up some nifty ol' cushion covers: These were made from a couple of my screenprinted samples. Shabby chic to the maxtreme! The lacy edging is vintage which I managed to pick up from Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair a while back. It's got kind of an art deco design: While I think the rose design on the purple version reminds me of the Yorkshire Rose: Maybe?! Anyway, they're both over in my Folksy shop ! Also here's a picture of my work hanging up at Number 83 , just because! Proud like Mother Hen
